Secure Your Commercial Property Before a Storm

As New England residents, we weather our fair share of snow storms and know a thing or two about how to prepare for when a storm hits. Considering that we’ve seen snow fall on Halloween the past few years, it’s possible we will start salting the roads in no time!
Before a storm, be sure to check the following boxes.
- Prepare an emergency kit
- Charge your devices
- Stay off the roads
- Send your employees home as soon as the weather emergency is announced by your city.
As a property owner, keep in mind the following few tips to make sure your business stays in top condition even in compromising conditions…
- Keep a consistent temperature inside your building! This will help with pipes and make sure they do not freeze over.
- Do a routine inspection of the roof! You will not want any cracks or leaks becoming worse or causing water damage, during or following a heavy storm.
- Keep the gutters clean! Any heavy snow coming your way could overpower the gutters and cause them to collapse.
- Prevent accidents! Plow your parking lot throughout the stages of the storm and be sure to ice any walkways, steps or staircases to avoid slips and falls.
